The
Santa Barbara Knitting Studio Stained Glass Poncho or Afghan
The afghan starts with a square of black at the center, and is worked outwards the same as the poncho. Pattern is written for three different lengths - 30", 34" and 38" from base of collar to front point at hemline. The afghan measures 45", 50" or 55" square. Aran weight yarns, gauge is 4-1/2 sts per inch on US Size 8 (5mm) needles (four - 35" circular needles are used) Instructions for an oversized, floppy beret are included with the pattern. Pattern Price - $6.95 Kits are available in the following colorways, or they may be special
ordered in a favorite colorway. Kit includes 4 buttons. Yarns include mostly wools and
some natural fiber blends, and there is enough yarn included to knit either the poncho or
afghan, and the beret.

Knit
in 7 different textures and colors with one main color bordering each section plus the
outer edge and collar, the poncho begins at the shoulders and is worked outwards and down
to the lower hem, log-cabin-style, picking up stitches as you go, and working only one
section at a time. The collar has a button placket in front with 4 buttons and is picked
up and knitted after the body is completed. The only sewing is to stitch down the bottom
of the button placket.
